The Simpson Railroad
is operated by the Peninsular Railway and Lumbermen's Museum a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich railroad and logging history of Washington State's Olympic Peninsula. One of our main goals is to preserve and operate the remaining 10 miles of the historic Simpson Timber Railroad as an excursion railroad.
Those final 10 miles represented the last logging railroad operation in the entire United States. When the company shut-down in 2015 it concluded over a century and a quarter of Simpson logging and railroad history on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula.
To preserve and extend that rich history, our organization is working to restore the Simpson Railroad and operate it as a heritage attraction. Our goal is to remind past generations of their amazing heritage, while helping future generations see, feel, ride and experience a physical link to our area’s historic logging railroad, and our community’s industrial past.
